Update is Back: Samsung Resumes One UI 8 Rollout for Galaxy S23 Series
After a sudden and unexplained pause earlier this week, Samsung has officially resumed the rollout of its Android 16-based One UI 8 update for its flagship Galaxy S23 lineup, including the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra.
The update was abruptly pulled from Samsung's servers shortly after its initial release, a move that also affected other flagship models like the Galaxy S24 and S22. This left many users in the US and globally waiting for a fix.
What's New in the Resumed Update?
This new, stable version of One UI 8 comes bundled with the latest October 2025 security patch, addressing a wide range of bugs and vulnerabilities.
The update is reportedly rolling out in South Korea first, which is standard procedure for Samsung. US users on carriers like T-Mobile, Verizon, and AT&T should expect to see the update notification on their devices in the coming days.
For users already on One UI 8: If you updated before the pause, this new patch will be a small download of approximately 385MB.
For users on One UI 7: If you are updating for the first time, expect a much larger download size for the full Android 16 and One UI 8 upgrade.
Why Was the Update Paused?
While Samsung has not given an official reason for the halt, user reports provide strong clues. Many who installed the initial One UI 8 version complained of significant issues, primarily:
Poor battery life
Bluetooth connectivity glitches
It is highly likely that this new release directly addresses these stability problems. With the update for the main S23 series back on track, the rollout for the Galaxy S23 FE is also expected to resume shortly.
How to Check for the Update
If you've been waiting for the stable release, you can manually check for the update on your Galaxy S23.
Go to Settings.
Scroll down and tap on Software update.
Select Download and install.
Your device will then check with Samsung's servers to see if the new patch is available for your region and carrier.
